dot tv for any other purpose
I have seen many tv channels have adopted this extension. But how far this extension can be used for other purposes?
Lets discuss it here.
PS: Im not talking about ".TV - tuvalu domain name" anyways.

Monkeythumpa is right! Maybe in a few years, it'd be like having an Atlantis domain. What would that be anyway .atl? .at? .ats?
Although, it isn't as if your websites would actually be hosted at Tuvalu, or run through networks there, is it? So there's no physical reason the domain should expire just because those islands sink. And in the meantime, aren't those Tuvaluans (Tuvalese? Tuvalunes? Tuvalutes?) trying to raise enough funds to move their whole population someplace else? I thought there was talk of moving the whole nation to Australia. So they're going to need the money they'd get from licensing the .TV domain.
Having a .tv address should become a sign of support and compassion for their cause. Their largest island is hardly large enough for a game of Ultimate Frisbee, and they're losing it to global warming. That's enough suckage for one tiny nation already. Go Daddy shouldn't be trashing their cause.

I've gone for .tv Geo's but have not developed them yet so too early yet for any conclusions.
My view is that a dot tv domain signals, better than any other extension, some form of the increasingly popular multi media content, and that's good enough for me.
There was a great demonstration in a doco recently of how universally tv is understood. A convoy of media vehicles were crossing some bullet riddled no-mans-land with a huge white flag which simply said tv. It must have meant something to someone because they made it through.
But, i'm a believer more than a zealot. A zealot would brag about how on some comparison sites .tvs are getting more traffic that the same word, well established dot COM.

not sure has it been down for a while or just recently. are they updating the site or has this been going on now for days and weeks. Perhaps the recession has affected them as well. keep checking back to see if anything develops.

How it's done, this Tuvalu .tv Internet domain business, is that the people of Tuvalu have got a company to resell the domains and they have got us to help. Once you've got your .TV web name registered you can have it hosted on just about any ISP anywhere.
Tuvalu domains cost slightly more than .net , .com, .co.uk , etc domains. But not a lot more. Last time I checked it was about £30 Sterling (about $50 US) per year. Not expensive for being Yourself.tv don't you think?
Tuvalu flagPlus, a certain amount of GOOD is to be done by signing up and registering your .tv domain. For one thing, some of the money goes towards the people of Tuvalu, which is just as well because tropical islands in the pacific have a problem known as "The Greenhouse Effect". Rest assured that sea level rises will not be a problem to your domain, but the extra help to the islands may help in some way there.
Also, getting your website established as a ".tv" rather than an ordinary ".com" is a sign of individuality rather than conformity. It's a pro-diversity thing to do. Go on, be different!

Shocked Nuns
Three nuns were talking. The first nun said, "I was cleaning in Father's room the other day and do you know what I found? A bunch of pornographic magazines.""What did you do?" the other nuns asked."Well, of course I threw them in the trash."Rolex ExplorerRolex GMTRolex MasterpieceThe second nun said, "Well, I can top that. I was in Father's room putting away the laundry and I found a bunch of condoms!""Oh my!" gasped the other nuns. "What did you do?" they asked."I poked holes in all of them!" she replied. The third nun fainted.

It has been the heart and soul of politics and society throughout its long history. Because of its role in the life and growth of China, there is an unequalled wealth available for travelers to discover as you explore Beijing's ancient past and enjoy its exciting 21st Century world. In 2008 Beijing successfully held the Olympic Games. Beijing showed the world something so special that everyone was awestruck by Beijing's latest accomplishments combined with its ancient history.TOP Attractions in Beijing,NO1: Great Wall of ChinaAs a symbol of ancient Chinese civilization, Great Wall of China has stood for more than 2,000 years. The Great wall of China was built in stages from the 5th century BC up to the 16th century AD as protection against northern nomadic tribes. Stretching from the coast of the Bohai Bay in the east and ending at the Jiayu Pass in the west, it snakes along the back of mountains, deserts and valleys for 6,350km (3900 miles). It is said to be 1 of the only 2 human engineering projects visible by astronauts from space with the naked eye. Built of huge granite slabs and special sized bricks, the Great Wall at Badaling 75km (47 miles) north of Beijing is most typical part of the Wall during the Ming dynasty (1368-1644). There the wall is wide enough for 5 horsemen to ride abreast or 10 men to walk side by side.
